Led by the American Medical Association (AMA), physician organizations have joined together in a coalition to lobby Congress and CMS to modify PAMA implementation.  Letters were sent urging CMS to conduct a market segment survey to validate the data received before implementing the new rate schedule.  The coalition includes several Federation Members, including the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American College of Physicians (ACP), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), the American Urological Association (AUA) and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).  The data from COLA’s 2017 engagement with clinicians nationwide to understand the true value of near patient testing to diagnosis and treatment is invaluable to the current policy discussions.
